Kim Kardashian Claims People ‘Didn’t Know’ About Marilyn Monroe Until She Wore Her Dress

The owner of SKIMS, Kim Kardashian, has mentioned that people ‘didn’t know’ who Marilyn Monroe was until she wore her iconic dress.

Kim Kardashian made quite an impact when she wore Marilyn Monroe’s famous ‘Happy Birthday Mr. President’ dress at the 2022 Met Gala.

After her red carpet appearance, Kanye West’s former wife faced strong criticism and was even accused of causing damage to the historic gown, a claim she vehemently denied.

However, Kim Kardashian has sparked further interest with recent comments about the Hollywood legend.

During an appearance on the show “Today” with hosts Savannah Guthrie and Hoda Kotb, the topic of Marilyn Monroe’s historic dress came up.

Kim Kardashian was there to promote her new skincare line, and Guthrie mentioned a conversation they had behind the scenes. Guthrie said: “We were just talking, you said you were shocked on TikTok, some people don’t even know who Marilyn Monroe was.”

Kardashian responded: “That was the most shocking thing to me and that’s why I was so happy to at least have that opportunity and that Ripley’s gave me the opportunity to share this moment so that it could live on.”

Numerous social media users have expressed outrage over Kardashian’s remarks, with one individual stating: “Ain’t no way Kim Kardashian said many people didn’t know who Marilyn Monroe was until she wore her dress.”

Another penns: “The audacity of this.”

“Imagine having this much ego!” a third expressed.

Another shared: “What a bubble she lives in, covered only with money.”

“I just don’t know why people give her so much attention.”

Monroe donned the dress to perform ‘Happy Birthday’ for President John F. Kennedy at Madison Square Garden in May 1962, just three months before her passing.

Kardashian further remarked: “I respect her and I understand how much this dress means to American history.”

“With the theme being American, I thought what is more American than Marilyn Monroe singing ‘Happy Birthday’ to the President of the United States.”

“It was such a process. I showed up to the red carpet in a robe and slippers. I put the dress on on the bottom of the carpet, went up the stairs, I probably had it on for four minutes and then I changed right at the top of the stairs,” she continued.

When questioned about whether her wearing of the dress had caused any damage, she firmly asserts: “No. [Ripley’s and I] worked together so well. There were handlers wearing gloves that put it on me.”

Kardashian revealed to Vogue that she had to lose over a stone in weight within three weeks. She explained that she wore a sauna suit twice a day, exercised on the treadmill, eliminated sugar and carbs from her diet, and focused on eating only healthy vegetables and protein.

However, some people criticized Kardashian for seemingly endorsing an “unhealthy” approach to weight loss. In response to the criticism, she stated: “I’m not trying to lose any more weight but I have more energy than ever. I cut out so much sugar, and a lot of junk food I was eating.”

“I just completely changed my lifestyle.”
