A parent’s unwavering devotion

When their baby child Logan entered the world, Walter and Abby were ecstatic. Their happiness soon gave way to worry, though, as Logan’s sobbing seemed to go on forever.

Nothing they attempted to calm him down worked, no matter how hard they tried. They set out on a mission to discover Logan’s source of suffering because they were determined to find a remedy.

When Walter got home one evening, Logan’s sobs had overcome Abby. She tried everything to calm the baby down, but it didn’t stop crying. Walter gave Abby a hug and inquired empathetically about the duration of the situation.

With tears in her eyes, Abby confided that she had done everything, including feeding, changing, and washing Logan, but nothing seemed to help. Both of them were in great anguish due to the unceasing weeping.

As they searched for solutions, Walter recommended looking in Logan’s crib. They were shocked to find a dictaphone and a message tucked inside. When Walter hit a button on the dictaphone, the wailing stopped right away.

Abby, perplexed and worried, asked Walter what he had discovered. Walter gave her the note when he was lost in thinking. The seriousness of the issue struck them like a ton of bricks when she read it aloud.

“I told you that you would regret treating me badly. You may put $200,000 in the baggage storage lockers on the port if you want to see your baby again. You won’t see him again if you report him to the police.”

The message stunned and bewildered Abby. They questioned how and by whom Logan might have been abducted. Walter recalled an instance in which he had abused a janitor at the maternity hospital. Is he the one?

Walter proposed calling the police, expressing regret, in the hopes that they would be able to locate the janitor and return Logan securely. Reluctant to involve the authorities for fear of further endangering their youngster, Abby considered her options. They choose to have faith in the authorities in spite of the dangers.

Walter’s phone rang with a terrifying message while they were parking close to the police station. If they wanted to see Logan alive, it threatened to keep them from calling the police. They were forced to acknowledge that paying the ransom was their last chance of survival.
