Kevin Federline reportedly unhappy with $40K a month child support payments from Britney SpearsKevin Federline reportedly unhappy with $40K a month child support payments from Britney Spears

Kevin Federline is reportedly asking for an increase in the $40,000 a month of child support he receives from Britney Spears ahead of their son’s 18th birthday.

As the ‘Baby One More Time’ singer’s oldest son, Sean Preston, will turn 18 this week, a source claimed to TMZ that the 45-year-old father-of-six feels that he “never bargained on having the kids full-time when they hashed out the terms of support”.

The outlet noted that the amount the former backup dancer – who was married to Spears for three years – currently receives is based on each parent having the kids 50 percent of the time.

However, Sean, and Jayden James, 16, have been living with their father for the past several years and even relocated to Hawaii with him last month as Federline’s current wife has a teaching position at a university.

Aside from Sean and Jayden, Kevin has four other children – two daughters with his wife and a son and daughter with his ex, Shar Jackson.

The TMZ insider alleged that Federline is “thinking of going to court” to request support changes as Spears’ monthly child support payment is predicted to go from $40,000 to $20,000.

The outlet mentioned that if Federline “asks for an increase” from the 41-year-old, her court-ordered child support “could balloon if he proves he needs more money for 100% of Jayden’s care”.

At this time, the outlet stated the teenager’s support “will stay intact until around June 2025, when he graduates high school”.

In addition to this, Daily Mail reported that the ‘Toxic’ songstress – who has been estranged from her sons for more than a year – felt “relieved” that she will no longer have to give tens of thousands in child support each month after Sean becomes of legal age.

“Britney is relieved that Sean is turning 18 on September 14 because she is tired of paying Kevin the insane amount of money he is getting,” a source alleged.

Spears and Federline dated for three months in 2004 before getting engaged in July of that year. They tied the knot two months later, in September 2004.

The pop icon gave birth to Sean in September of 2005, and Jayden in September 2006, but she filed for divorce in November 2006, with it being finalized the following year.

The ‘Womanizer’ singer went on to wed Sam Asghari in June 2022, however, he filed for divorce in August, citing “irreconcilable differences” after just over a year of marriage.

Amid Spears’ divorce from the personal trainer, the ‘Stronger’ musician’s ex-partner Federline sent a heartfelt message through his attorney Mark Vincent Kaplan.

“He wishes them both the best,” Kaplan said, per ET. The attorney went on to say, “If they reconcile, great, but hopefully it won’t be a factor that makes her feel more alienated than she might otherwise be if she was still in an intact marriage.”

Ensuring clarity on Federline’s stance, Kaplan shared: “He wishes her the best and hopes that things work out for her for the best,” on behalf of his client.

Federline also added some encouraging advice to his ex-wife and mother of his kids, stating: “Be strong, be focused, and get good advice from those around you before making important decisions.”
