Emma Roberts has been accused of misgendering her transgender co-star Angelica Ross on the set of American Horror Story.

On Tuesday (September 19) – the day that the horror anthology series’ twelfth season, dubbed ‘Delicate’, premieres, the 42-year-old trans actress went live on Instagram to share her experience working with the 33-year-old lead star on the show.

Ross appeared in seasons nine and 10 of the show, making her the first trans actor to have two prominent roles on network television.

However, the activist, who is not credited as a cast member in the latest season, revealed that her relationship with Roberts soured in 2019 during filming for the American Horror Story: 1984 set.

The Pose star claimed that a playful moment between the two, in which Roberts semi-jokingly complained to Gray that Ross was being mean to her, led to an alleged transphobic remark.

“I’m standing in front of Emma, talking to her like this, and she’s in front of me, her back against the mirror,” Ross recalled in the screen-recorded clip.

Watch Ross speak about the alleged incident below:

“She goes, ‘John, Angelica’s being mean,’” Ross said. While the “John” in question was not specified, two episodes of the season they both starred in were directed by John J. Gray.

“I know she’s not being for real,” the actress said of the Scream Queens star’s “mean” comment. “She’s just being whatever. And John is like, ‘OK, ladies, that’s enough. Let’s get back to work.’”

Ross then claimed that after Gray tried to diffuse the situation, Roberts allegedly replied: “Don’t you mean lady?” – implying that the actress, who is trans, was not a woman.

The Framing Agnus actress then claimed that the Wild Child star turned around and covered her mouth with her shirt after making the alleged remark.

Ross then recalled her looking at Roberts “dead a** in the camera” and saying: “What the f*** did you just say?”, adding: “And I’m standing there looking her dead a** in the damn thing, and I’m like, trying to process [what] the f*** she just said.

“I’m standing there, she walked away, my blood is boiling. Because I’m like, if I say something, it’s gonna be me that’s the problem,” she said, claiming that a previous person on the set of AHS once complained about the Holidate actress and faced “repercussions” from higher-ups.

“So when I saw that happening, I was just like, ‘I’m done.’ I didn’t speak to that b**** the entire time after that. So we had scenes together and I never spoke to her,” she shared.

Ross revealed that amid the silent treatment, the We’re The Millers actress asked her if she was okay. “She was like, ‘Are you OK? You haven’t been talking.’ I’m like, ‘Mmmhmm,’” she said.

“‘Cause b**** don’t play me. You’ve been playing mind games with everybody on the set and everybody’s been waiting for the moment that you would get me,” Ross added.

Roberts’ representatives have not responded to Ross’ claims as of the time of publication.
